I love a new product launch day! I'm please to announce the release of my newest product, the centre grip thumb guard. I came up with the idea for a way to protect your shield thumb when watching a fight where one of the combatants was particularly enthusiastic about hooking with his round shield, and the other poor fellow had a much narrower square shield. Needless to say, square shield guy's thumb was the loser that day.
I got to thinking that there's been other times where I've seen how a thumb guard could help. I know of at least one instance where a fighter took a nasty thumb shot during Crown. While it didn't end his day, his shield work was affected for the rest of the tournament.
I can't say that I've ever experienced a crushed thumb during the occasional times I've used a centre grip shield, but I've had a smashed finger tip, and that was quite enough for me. So here we are. I'll never build another centre grip shield without a thumb guard. And hopefully you won't either.
